BREONA

A few hours before Marcus abruptly showed up on my doorstep, I was minding my own business.

When I looked down at my phone, I had five missed calls from Marcus. I haven’t talked to him since the night I popped up at the bar and rocked his world in the backseat of his car. No matter how many times I fooled around with him, the reality was he was moving forward with his plans to marry Jasmine, so it was time for me to take a chance with someone new. Eric and I were still in the goofy new beginnings of a new relationship but he seemed like a really sweet guy. We stayed on the phone most of the night. He would call me on his way to and from work. The minutes we spent on the phone were insane, but I loved it.

Marcus didn’t appreciate the fact that I only called him when Eric wasn’t around, but he sure did rush over when I sent him a text. Once Eric was ready to take things to another level and gave me that engagement ring, I was going to have Marcus completely out of my system. In order to give us a chance, I needed to cut all of the extra dick out of my life.

Of course Marcus wasn’t too happy at all when he learned about my budding relationship with Eric, especially when he realized that I really liked him.

The only reason he stopped bringing it up was because I flipped the script. I explained to him that I had way too many issues with him fucking Jasmine. I even told him that I was willing to tell Jasmine everything that we were doing just so she would leave him alone, then my problem would be solved. He didn’t take too kindly to my threats, I actually pissed him off, but he got my point.

I didn’t want to spend our limited time together arguing, so I agreed not to bring up his girl if he left Eric out of the conversation as well. The less he knew about my bed buddies, we were better off.

Part of me wanted to find out why he was calling because truth be told, I missed his ass like crazy, but the other half told me to turn my phone off. It wasn’t about me trying to do the right thing and stay away from him. I just wasn’t in the mood for the bullshit tonight.

Spending most of the day at the boutique doing inventory and meeting with my designers, I was beyond exhausted. It was times such as this, I hated that Eric lived in San Diego. Although he made it his purpose to come up every other weekend, I didn’t want to seem so clingy already. I dropped hints that I wanted to visit him in a few of our conversations, but he quickly avoided the subject.

I sadly stared at my reflection in the mirror. I wished I had someone to cuddle at the moment.
